The service

Is Virevelle prenatal care?

No. Virevelle does not replace your obstetrician, midwife, prenatal visits, hospital care, or other members of your healthcare team. Birth Navigation is an educational and decision-preparation service. Your treating clinicians remain responsible for your medical care and for making individualized medical recommendations.

Are you my doctor?
Then why does it matter that you’re an OB/GYN?
Can you tell me whether I should have an induction or cesarean?

Your birth, your preferences

Will you make a birth plan for me?

We can help you develop something more useful: informed preferences. A traditional birth plan can become a list of yeses and nos. But birth rarely presents decisions without context. Instead, we explore what matters underneath the preference. If avoiding a cesarean is important to you, why? If avoiding an operative vaginal delivery is important to you, what concerns you about it? If immediate skin-to-skin matters deeply to you, how would you want your team to approach that preference if your baby needed evaluation? What are the risks and benefits of not having an IV in place during labor, and why did the hospital recommend one? Understanding the why behind your preferences makes them much more useful when circumstances change.

What if I already have a doula?
Is this only for first-time parents?
What if I want an unmedicated birth?
What if I know I want an epidural and don’t really have a “birth plan”?

The goal is neither maximum nor minimum intervention.
The goal is maximum understanding.

Cost and coverage

How much does Birth Navigation cost? Will my insurance cover it?

Virevelle is a private-pay service. Sessions begin at $800 for one hour, with reduced hourly pricing for experiences that include more time. Because the service sits outside the traditional healthcare system and Birth Navigation is not medical care, Virevelle services are not covered by health insurance. Birth Navigation gives us time to focus on something that can be difficult to fit into a prenatal visit: making sure you understand your options, know which questions you want to ask, and feel prepared to participate meaningfully in decisions about your pregnancy and birth. Birth navigation is not another medical appointment. It offers dedicated time to understand the landscape of your care before you have to navigate it.
